THIRDSTONE NEWS

Hello All!

I've been having too much fun hiding out! My hiatus from managing the retail gallery is starting to cultivate much interesting fruit. I plan on being able to fill you all in on in some detail soon. But not yet. I do however appreciate all the interesting rumours I keep hearing about what I and ThirdStone are up to... Yes, I know it's kinda naughty to keep it all under wraps but, there actually are good reasons to do so. For now, all I can tell you is that there will be at least two special ThirdStone shows and exhibition events coming up; one, later this Summer and another, this Fall. While I'm not exactly taking the Summer off, I am taking my time to make sure these events will really be something special. More on all the rest of the crazy stuff soon.... or at least kinda soon. For now, here's the latest news of what's goin' on around the area...

NOTE: Our publication schedule is generally every other week except when it's not. With that in mind, remember to send me your news items at least a couple weeks before they happen. It's important to me that we cover as much here as possible and to do so, I of course, rely on all of you to tell us what you've got in the works. Soon this newsletter will evolve into what will be primarily an interactive website own its own; that will allow quicker, more seamless updates and additions. Until that happens though, I want to make sure that it continues to provide the best and broadest coverage that it can. For now, here's the latest news of what's goin' on around the area...

local news of all sorts:

NEXT FENNVILLE "TUESDAY IN THE PARK CONCERT - JUNE 23 FEATURING "WHO HIT JOHN?"

The second concert of the Seventh Annual Fennville “Tuesdays in the Park” free community concert series is coming up Tuesday June 23 and will feature the Kalamazoo based bluegrass band Who Hit John?. The concert will be held at Memorial/Paradise Park on north Maple ST, downtown Fennville. Music begins at 7PM. In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved to an inside location to be announced.

According to their press kit, “Who Hit John? has been performing, jamming and busking around southwest Michigan since 2006. They've brought their energetic and original old time sound to bars, basements, street corners, concert halls - anywhere they can get folks stompin', singin' and clappin'. Joined together by a love for acoustic music and its vibrant scene in Michigan, this derelict group of misfits and prophets are intent on taking the world by storm, one song at a time. Whether kicking out raucous fiddle tunes, dirty and greasy southern blues, or high and lonesome bluegrass serenades, Who Hit John? keeps the home fires burning, carrying on the tradition of American roots music. All five members write and sing, providing a wealth of material and influences. Who Hit John? always brings audiences something exciting and new. “

The band was formed by Nick "Hamdog" Vander Vliet on mandolin, Kris "Will DoLittle" Kehn on guitar, and Daniel "Catfish" McCartney on banjo and slide guitar. Shortly thereafter, Nathan "Django Watley" Dannison joined on fiddle, harmonica and jaw harp. The fresh-faced foursome went through a number of bass players, before meeting recording engineer Ian "Dr. Hoot" Gorman while mixing their debut CD, Old Gray Road.

Free to the public, the Tuesdays in the Park concerts are sponsored by the businesses of the Greater Fennville Chamber of Commerce.Concessions will be available, with proceeds going to the Greater Fennville Chamber of Commerce scholarship fund. Visit the Chamber website at www.greaterfennville.com for more information and a schedule of future concerts.
