THIRDSTONE NEWSLETTER LATEST ISSUE - "Amblin' thru August" EDITION

THIRDSTONE NEWS

Hello All!

THIRDSTONE GALLERY NEWS: The next ThirdStone show is coming up around the equinox....There will be some terrific new works from some some of your longtime ThirdStone favorites, plus, the return of ThirdStone artist Victoria Mullen with some startling new works and, as has long been the custom, I'll also be introducing a brand new artist who's, never shown before anywhere. The show will kick-off in Late September and the location will be announced soon. There are two additional West Michigan shows slated for the remainder of the year and 2 "out-of-town" ones as well. I'll report more details on all of them soon.

THIS HERE CRAZY THIRDSTONE NEWSLETTER - As the subscriber base and, the sheer volume of news it now covers both continue to grow exponentially, I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how to make it better. bigger, easier to read and, easier for me to keep current to make it somewhat less-time-consuming for me. The solution I've come up with is to launch a brand new ThirdStone News website so that news can be found more readily by "department" or category. It will also have public posting areas so that readers can post events we might otherwise miss and, it will have a free "classified ads" section too for all kinds of the "good stuff" you normally find here in the email version. .

Okay. Here's the latest news of what's goin' on around the area...

local news of all sorts:

CELERY POND ADVOCATES GROUP TO HOLD FUND-RAISING GET-TOGETHER
“A Get-Together to Support Art, Nature and Community”

Location: Arthur Frederick and Mark VanderLeek’s Country Place, 122nd Avenue in GangesStreet - call for directions

Friday, August 28, 2009, from 5 – 7pm, Hors d’oeuvres and wine - $35 per person

Celery Pond Advocates is a 501(c)(3) organization allowing $25 tax deductible. Questions, call 269-637-1491

Celery Pond Advocates is organizing a get-together to show their continuing support to preserve and enhance the public lands of the Celery Pond area. We invite Celery Pond members and supporters, along with members of all area clubs to join us. During the event we’ll discuss what we can do together as a community to blend art and nature in the areas around Celery Pond.

With the recent addition of two sections of lands within the Celery Pond area into the South Haven Parks system, CPA will be exploring different avenues of gifts to the City for these areas. A sculpture by Marian Anderson, a renowned local sculptor, is one of the works being considered. We will also be raising monies and accepting offers of in-kind services to beautify the area around the proposed installation, as well as raising monies to contribute signage about the Celery Pond wetland.

The get-together is being held at the lovely country home of Arthur Frederick, owner of Button-Petter Gallery, and building contractor Mark VanderLeek, located just north of Glenn. See how art and nature come together on their property which overlooks shady woods, wetland and lake: something inspiring for everyone.

Tickets are on-sale at Wolverine Hardware (420 Phoenix Street) and Whimsy (415 Phoenix Street). Directions and small map will be given with ticket purchase. We extend a big thank-you for your support and are grateful for the generous donated catering talents of Suzie Blair.
