Yeah, I know; I've been kinda remiss (Okay, downright lazy), in answering all of the recent queries about what ThirdStone is up to these days. For now, I'll just say that there are some new ThirdStoned adventures currently in the works. Some additional "hosted" shows in various cities are dropping into the schedule and our plans for our '09 West Michigan "hometown" shows are coming together too. Our new array of websites will launch soon (with some very interesting surprises) and, I've got a bunch of new Assembloids and paintings in the works too. More on all that crazy stuff soon.... or at least kinda soon. For now, here's the big news of what's goin' on around the area...

BIG ANTIQUES SALE AT CRANE'S PIE PANTRY RESTAURANT - BEGINS THIS WEEKEND
This Friday at 11 AM kicks off the huge antiques sale at Cranes. The sale is being held on the covered patio just outside the restaurant entrance. Be sure to stop in for a look at what kind of treasures will be available. This is an ongoing sale and will continue through Sunday, July 4. Daily hours for the sale at 11AM to 5PM. ThirdStone artist and supreme wizard guy of cool pottery, Jeff Blandford has opened a new shop in Saugatuck! Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance
Check out their web site sometime to find out more. It's Wishbonepetrescue.com. the folks there are working very hard to help the Allegan Co. Animal Shelter turn itself around, to be a wonderful place to safely house and ultimately place strays into new, loving homes. Wishbone is a dedicated group of volunteers helping to expand the shelter's "open" hours to include Saturdays. They're also putting together a "food bank" program for pets. ANNUAL SALE TIME AT ROSEBAY NURSERIES
Our pal Linda Charvat is underway with Rosebay Nursery's once a year Plant sale! This is the only time she sells to the general public. You'll find Great deals on various varieties of Rhododendrons and Azaleas of all sizes a chance to get them at half to a quarter of the price you'd pay for them at store.

EVENTS AT THE SCA:

A look at the notable eight-decade career of Saugatuck resident and artist Sylvia Randolph opened at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts (400 Culver Street, Saugatuck) on Friday, May 1. The exhibit in the Bertha Krueger Reid Exhibition Hall is free of charge and open to the public Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and during evening performances (through June 22).


Classes for children June – August at the Art Center
Ignite your creativity this summer with classes at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts (400 Culver Street, Saugatuck)! Young artists of all skill levels – ages 5 through 13 – will discover an array of artful opportunities including Lego design, puppetry workshop, and culinary classes plus performance camps and more during June, July, and August. The Saugatuck Center for the Arts has a great double-header of live entertainment on tap for Memorial Weekend. YEAH! My friend Tammy (and a 'not-so-secret' co-conspirator) are opening their brand new pizza joint in time for the Memorial Day Weekend and I can hardly wait! (Pizza IS, after all, the world's perfect comestible AND a food group of it's own!).Those of you who know me have likely heard me rant about the variously dismal state of Michigan pizza. Well now that's all about to change. Pizza Mambo is making hand-tossed "artisan" pizza that'll raise the bar on what a good pizza is supposed to be. I'll have a full report for ya's soon. Washington Square Art Gallery May Feature
The gallery is featuring Keith Maki & Christine Towner during the month of May.Maki’s work includes colorful scenes and vivid fractions of views through the camera lens. He finds his subjects during travels around the world.Towner’s art uses an ancient medium that dates back to the Egyptians. Encaustic wax is the use of beeswax and damar crystals made by heating the wax and combining colors into abstract images.

Dance Classes at Fennville Middle School
6 week course on Wednesday evenings--June 24 through July 29. $45 per student for the entire session. Family discounts offered. Several different dance disciplines will be explored including ballet, jazz, modern & hip-hop. Each class will learn a complete dance routine. On the evening of Wednesday, July 29 our dancers will perform for the residents at Golden Orchards Assisted Living Facility. Satya Yoga News

On Monday (Memorial Day), May 25 from 9-11am, we have a very special guest traveling all the way from Hawaii to visit us and lead a workshop on Yoga & Ayurveda (see flyer attached).

The workshop will truly be all-encompassing, incorporating asana (yoga), pranayama (breath), meditation, chakra study, hand mudras, the food we choose, the type of practice best suited for our bodies, etc. Honestly - it promises to be an excellent adventure! Mississippi Gabe Carter is Chicago this weekend
If you're in Chicago this Saturday 5/23, Gabe will be playing at Reggie's Music Joint. He'll begin his set around 8pm. After Gabe's set there's gonna be an excellent blues band by the name of "Ten Foot Pole Cats". They do some solid downhome, juke joint blues. After them, it's gonna be a hoedown with some old school hillbilly rock and roll -- with "The Honeybees" and "The Blue Ridge Strangers".
